EveryMau5 In The Place

Deadmau5 is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. He lays right on the border of cheesy electronic music, and "hipster/indie" electronic, but his production is strong that it never seems to matter where his style lies. If you know anything about him you probably know that he is one of the most praised remixers of our time, and never fails to produce something new and great. He recently remixed The Prodigy's "Everybody In The Place". Every once in a while he shows his real distorted electro side, and it definitely comes out on this remix. He did a very nice job.

Passion Pit Remixed

If you haven't heard Passion Pit's "Sleepyhead" by now you are a serious failure of a hipster. Only kidding (kind of), but seriously "Sleepyhead" is a great track and it opened up a lot of new listeners to Passion Pit. They gained all that popularity before even releasing their debut album, but it's coming very soon. With it's release come many new remixes, one of which is a new Calvin Harris remix. People have been very hot and cold on "I'm Not Alone", but I think his remixes are something that always turn out well. Enjoy.

Kitch 'n Sync

Kitch 'n Sync are a new duo out of the UK who have a single coming out on Kitsuné soon. If you think there name is good you need to check out their tracks. Although I've heard very few tracks from them, I can already tell that their strong style of production spreads over various styles of electronic music. I just got sent two new tracks of theirs. One is a remix of fellow new Kitsuné artists, Crystal Fighters. The second track is an original from their new EP. They're both technically samplers, but they each run over 4 minutes so it's gotta be a nice chunk of both of them.

Intro

If you saw MSTRKRFT on tour last year you probably heard their epic intro with the intense opera and Ghostface Killah and that baby and the crazy electro song. You might have even tried looking for that intro online, like me, but couldn't find it. Well I gave up my search after a little unsuccessful googling and didn't think anything more of it until today when I was sent an mp3 of that intro! It was sent to help promote Larry Tee's new "Club Badd" album that dropped this week. The album's full of great originals and remixes of his tracks, some new and some old, but all with that dirty Larry Tee style.

Purchase Club Badd here.

New Hey Today! + Shazam

For almost all of last year I had Hey Today!'s "Walk Through" on repeat. It was one of my favorite tracks for so long, and I still love going back and listening to it. Since then however they haven't had much going on. A new track surfaced, but didn't get released (now being released May 13) so I've really just been watching and waiting for their next move. I saw they did a remix for Shazam's Pool Party EP, and got extremely excited. I got ahold of the track as soon as I could. The remix is pretty great and probably be right at home on a Roulé release. It gets me moving every time I listen to it.

We Bite

When I go through the FS e-mail I often download things that I mean to listen to, but then quickly forget about once they hit my iTunes library. In an attempt to stop this from happening I just play my Recently Added section from the top, and listen for something good. Yesterday a track came on that I thought may have been a Tiga track from the new album or something, but I really didn't recognize it. The song that caught my attention was the new single from Spencer Product, "We Bite". The original is a guitar and drum driven track with silly but fun lyrics that is perfect for the club. Taking the track even further in to the realm of Tiga-ness is the Designer Drugs remix, which adds their usual synths and beats to the track, and give it even more danceability. Last but not least is the Tronik Youth remix that has a whole different feel with it's robo-vocals, and slower 80's bass and synths. Great alternate for when you want to slow things down a little. It's rare that you see an EP where all 3 or however many tracks are really ace, but here's one for you guys.

1901

Phoenix's "1901" has been one of my favorite singles of the year so far, and I know it's going to be on my favorites list at the end of the year. One of the great things about living in the year 2009 is that every great single comes with some great remixes. Many more mediocre remixes, but there are always some good ones if you dig deep enough. These two both fell right in to my lap, and I'm so glad they did. I'm not sure any version of this track could surpass the originals greatness to me, but these two are definitely good alternates.

If you're in L.A. be sure not to miss Phoenix when they come to town on June 28.

Gigi Barocco

With several of my favorite electro and fidget-house artists becoming less consistent with their work, I've really stepped up my searching for new artists. One of the best artists I've found is Italian wonder-boy Gigi Barocco. His wobbles, twists, and vrooms are as good as any, and I can't get enough. He just released an excellent EP on Hervé's Cheap Thrills label, and I have the title track from that EP for guys. Also threw in a few of my other favorites from him.

New Trumpdisco + Trash Yourself

I have two new remixes for you guys from two artists that Fancy Sounds has continually supported in the past. Both have been consistent and excellent on every new track and this next batch is some of the best yet. Trumpdisco swoop in with their second official remix of their career. This time they do it big with a style I'd have to place somewhere between older Hervé stuff  and The Bloody Beetroots. Then there's the Trash Yourself remix. From the start it was what I expected. Huge driving bass with nice chord progression. However, I wasn't expecting the use of the vocals that turn it in to more of feel good danceable party track. Enjoy.

Bonus:
Lykke Li - Dance Dance Dance (Buraka Som Sistema Remix) (ALT) <--- Buraka was easily one of the best shows of Coachella.

Rich Boys

Little Boots is no stranger to covers. She's done one after another on her YouTube channel, and every single one is a hit among those who already love her or those who are just getting to know her. Since she has that experience it came as no surprise to me that her first official cover is of the highest quality. Produced by Simon Lord AKA Lord Skywave of Simian (Mobile Disco) fame.

Crazy remix from A1. Everything he's touched lately has turned to gold.

Track/Video Of The Day (4/16/09)

The video and the track are both really great. The video isn't of "La Ritournelle", but I had to post it. The song's a true classic in my mind. Oh, and I'll be seeing him for the second time live on Sunday. I can't wait.

What I'm Loving

I wanted to tell you guys about a few of the tracks I've been digging lately. It's already proving to be a great year in music, and I am just immersing myself in everything that's been coming out. Here's some of the best stuff of the last little while.

Yusek's album was brilliant and one of the best tracks was his previous single "Tonight". He had already released an EP for it, but he just released another one. This remix was featured on that EP. RAC has been doing great things lately. Every remix sounds more and more professional, and all of them are great. This one is a great alternate version to an already wonderful track.

Modeselektor and Apparat have a new project together conveniently named Moderat. I heard about the project a month or two ago, but at the time there were no tracks yet. A few days ago I came across what I believe is the first track they've released, and it instantly became one of my favorite tracks. If the rest of their tracks are going to sound anything like this, I'm seriously excited.

What's that sound? I like that sound. I love that sound. That's the sound of my shoes. I've had that stuck in my head for too long, but I still love it! The remixes just keep on coming, and this one's pretty fun.

My Remix of Extraball

I remixed "Extraball" by Yuksek. I am pretty proud of it. I hope you guys like it!

Lifelike Remixes La Roux

Over the last year or so La Roux has been gaining fans like no one's business. With one very solid EP under her belt already she will be back with much more in '09. Her latest track, "In For The Kill", is already getting played everywhere in the form of Skream's "Let's Get Ravey Remix", and here is a second amazing remix already. Those soft 80's synths were just begging to be taken over by someone with Lifelike's expertise and as usual he created a brand new beautiful landscape for our ears to listen blissfully too and our mind to soar excitedly through.

La Roux - In For The Kill (Lifelike Remix) [Removed By Request]
Out soon on the upcoming Kitsuné Maison 7 release.

Triple Trouble

Got three huge new tracks for you guys. Get ready. These are gonna be tearing up the dance-floors for the next few months.

Catch Up Pt. 2

Mr Gaspar is getting better with every new track I hear from him, but now even his bootlegs are sounding pretty damn professional. In my opinion the new Black Eyed Peas song is pretty unbearable, but with a nice shove in the right direction by Mr Gaspar it's not too bad. If I have to listen to any form of this track it will absolutely be this one. Nice remix. It seems like he's experimenting with some different sounds than usual, and I'm liking it.

After their first EP's brilliance I thought some of their remixes started to lack a little of the energy and excellence that their previous ones were so full of. This remix really puts Designer Drugs back up at the top for me though. They do so well working with female pop vocals. The warm wavy synths are hypnotizing. Annie always seems to be well remixed so here's another one to add to the pile.

When "Disco Sirens" came out last year, and everyone went remix crazy for it, I thought many of the remixes were below average, but the one that knocked  them all away was by Calling In Sick. Since then I've heard a few more remixes as well as an original form them. They make really solid fun electro, and they did a great job applying their touch to the new Grum single.

80kidz are another duo who I feel have lacked since their first EP. Remixes started to get a little boring, and I have been pretty much stuck on listening to "Disdrive" for the last few months. However, I think I may have a new 80kidz track to listen to repeatedly now. This remix brings back a lot of what I first loved about them.

*zShare seems to be acting up at the moment. We're gonna use Mediafire until it settles down.

Fuck Fuck Yeah Yeah

I don't know too much about Tokima Tokio, and I've only heard a handful of tracks from him, but he's got me wanting more already. His "Taken Away" remix was one of my favorite versions of the track, and it was often compared to something Shinichi Osawa would have done. Now that's a good compliment. I would say the same thing about his new original track as well. Strong production with good melody, and some fun twisty/bouncy synths.

Track Of The Day (4/4/09)

Joachim Garraud is back from space. I'm back from Hawaii.
